How to install and activate an eSIM
Install your travel eSIM before you fly, on iPhone or Android, using the QR code sent to your email. It takes about two minutes on Wi-Fi.
Installation steps
Scan the QR code from a second screen
Open the QR code on a laptop, tablet or printout, then go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code and scan it.
Choose "Abroad"
When iOS asks where you will use this eSIM, pick Abroad so your home number stays the default line.
Choose "Data Only"
Travel eSIMs are data plans. Calls and SMS keep running on your existing line.
Turn on the line
Go to Settings > Cellular, select the new plan under SIMs and switch on Turn On This Line.
Enable Data Roaming
Switch Data Roaming on for the travel line and set mobile data to your travel plan. Data Roaming must be ON for a travel eSIM to connect.
Troubleshooting
"Unable to activate eSIM" or the install fails
Almost always a weak Wi-Fi connection, a phone still locked to your home carrier, an older OS version, or a profile that has already been installed once. Connect to stable Wi-Fi, restart the phone, confirm the device is unlocked and up to date, then try again.
How to check the eSIM actually installed
iPhone: Settings > Cellular shows the plan under SIMs. Android: Settings > Connections > SIM manager, or Settings > Network & internet > SIMs on Pixel.
Installed, but there is no internet
Data Roaming must be ON for the travel line, mobile data must be set to the travel eSIM rather than your home SIM, and the line itself must be switched on. Toggle Airplane mode afterwards to force a fresh network search.
The QR code says "no longer valid"
A QR code works exactly once. If the eSIM is still on the phone, use it from your settings instead of scanning again. If it was deleted, contact support with your order number for a replacement.
